From research gap analysis
to final publication.
I’m Imtiaz Ibne Alam, a registered pharmacist (B.Pharm, RPh) and freelance medical writer. I help clinicians and researchers get their work published, whether you’re still identifying the research question or addressing reviewers’ comments.
Medical publication support
How we’ll work on your manuscript
Here’s what I do at each stage and what you’ll receive.
Assessing the research gap
I’ll review the current literature to assess the clinical relevance of your research question and whether it addresses a gap in existing knowledge. I’ll send you a detailed report with my findings and my opinion on whether the proposed study is worth pursuing.
What you receive: An assessment of the research gap and priorities for your manuscript.
Choosing a journal
A medical journal with a high impact factor isn't always a good fit for publishing your research. Each journal has its own editorial preferences and publication scope. I'll manually search for and identify 10–12 journals, ranging from Q1 to Q4, suitable for your manuscript. I'll provide you with a summary of each journal's article processing charges (if any), accepted article types, submission and formatting requirements and typical turnaround time. The report will also include my recommendations on which journals to target based on your research work.
What you receive: A journal shortlist with reasons and submission requirements.
Researching and drafting
Depending on the type of research you’ve conducted, I’ll draft the entire manuscript following the appropriate reporting guidelines. I’ll search relevant databases for literature that helps explain the rationale for your study. I’ll make sure the manuscript remains consistent with your findings, from the abstract to the discussion and conclusion. I’ll also review the study design and statistical analysis with you or your statistician to clarify any concerns and ensure the methods and results are accurately reported.
What you receive: A referenced draft with questions for your review.
Preparing for submission
Once you’ve reviewed the draft, I’ll revise it and check that the text, tables, figures and references agree. I’ll follow your journal’s formatting instructions and the appropriate reporting checklist, then prepare the cover letter and submission files.
- AMA / Vancouver
- CONSORT · trials
- PRISMA · reviews
- CARE · case reports
What you receive: Clean and tracked drafts, plus submission documents for your approval.
Revising and resubmitting
We’ll work through each reviewer’s comment and address their concerns accordingly. I’ll make the agreed revisions and write appropriate responses explaining the changes. And if we disagree with any comments, I’ll provide a thorough response supported by evidence and a clear rationale.
I’ll then prepare the manuscript for resubmission and help with any further rounds of review. If your manuscript has been rejected, we’ll review the reasons for rejection before deciding what to do next, including whether to target a different journal.
What you receive: A response letter matched to your revisions and resubmission files.
Checking proofs and publication
After acceptance, I’ll review the publisher’s proofs for production errors in the text, tables, references and author details. You’ll approve the corrections before they go back to the publisher. I’ll also check the final published record.
What you receive: Proof corrections and a final publication check.

Medical manuscript editing
I'll take a thorough look at your draft before quoting. I'll give you a full report on what needs to be done based on your target journal's manuscript submission and editorial requirements, including any shortcomings that need to be addressed. Depending on the draft, this may involve updating references and verifying claims against relevant and reliable sources. I'll also assess whether the interpretation is supported by the results and the background clearly explains the rationale for the study.
If you’ve received feedback from the journal, please include the decision letter and reviewer comments with your draft.
What needs attention?

Questions about publication support
Can you work with me until final publication?
Yes. Your quote will set out the stages and review rounds included, through to proof corrections if requested. If more work is needed, we’ll agree it before I proceed.
Can you guarantee journal acceptance?
No. Journal acceptance depends on several factors beyond my control, including editorial decisions and peer review. What I can do is improve your manuscript, make sure it meets the journal’s requirements and help address reviewers’ comments within the agreed revision rounds.
How much do manuscript writing services cost?
I’ll quote after reviewing your brief and material. The amount of research, level of editing, journal requirements, deadline and review rounds affect the fee.
Who approves the manuscript and submission?
You and your coauthors approve the scientific content and submission. We’ll follow the journal’s requirements for acknowledging writing support. I won’t use your confidential manuscript as a public sample.
